The Laugavegur trail is located in the southern highlands of Iceland and connects the nature reserves Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork. For many runners the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon is the most enjoyable race in Iceland. The course is 55 km and takes runners through areas of outstanding natural beauty.
This race is not meant for walkers, only experienced runners. Those who have reached the age of 18 are allowed to participate in the race. They need to be in good physical shape and can fulfil certain requirements, more info here: Is this race for you? - Laugavegur Ultra Marathon
Registration opens on the first Wednesday in November each year and is open for one week. A certain number of the highest-ranked ITRA runners get direct entry into the race, while others go into a lottery draw. Those who do not get into the race after the lottery receive a 100% refund and are placed on a waiting list. More details here: Registration - Laugavegur Ultra Marathon
Those who want to be in the same group must register together in the registration system (i.e., put two or more tickets in the basket). Those who register together will be placed in the same group, and as we place participants in groups based on their ITRA points, the registered group will be placed in group based on the member with the lowest ITRA points.
